Focus Trainer Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the iOS and Android versions of the Focus Trainer mobile application and their related app features, including timers, goals, achievements, collectables, analytics screens, notifications, app usage automation, screen blocking, purchases, and sharing features.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party apps, websites, social media platforms, app stores, device manufacturers, operating system services, or services that users choose to interact with outside Focus Trainer.

2. Information Users Provide

Users may provide information inside the app, including:

• Timer labels, session names, and block names
• Goal names and goal duration settings
• Difficulty, gender, mascot, theme, and notification preferences
• Blocked app and allowed app lists

If a user contacts support by email, we may receive the email address, message content, attachments, and any other information the user chooses to include.

3. Information Stored Or Processed Locally

Focus Trainer may store or process the following information locally on the user's device:

• Focus and break session elapsed time
• Timer labels, timer history, and current active timer state
• Session and block totals
• Daily, weekly, and monthly analysis data
• Goal progress, completion state, and claim state
• Achievement progress, completion state, and claim state
• XP, level progress, and collectable unlock state
• User preferences and app difficulty mode
• App usage timing used for automation, if the platform permission is enabled
• Blocked app selections, if configured by the user
• Verified App Store or Play Store purchase entitlement state

This information is used to provide the app experience and is not sent to a Focus Trainer backend server.

4. Sensitive Permissions And Device Access

iOS Screen Time

On iOS, optional Screen Time authorization may be used through Apple's Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings frameworks. These frameworks let users select apps or categories, apply shields, and view privacy-preserving activity reports.

Focus Trainer does not transmit iOS Screen Time selections or activity reports to a Focus Trainer server. Apple controls what app identity and usage information can be displayed or processed by the Screen Time extensions.

Android Usage Access

On Android, Usage Access may be used to detect app usage patterns for difficulty automation, app-based rules, and screen-blocking behavior.

When enabled, Focus Trainer may process app package names, usage timing, and app switching behavior locally on the device. This information is used to determine whether Focus Trainer should apply a rule, start or switch a timer, show an alarm, or enforce blocking behavior.

Focus Trainer does not use Usage Access to sell data, build advertising profiles, or send app usage data to a Focus Trainer server.

Android Overlay Or Screen Blocker Permission

On Android, overlay or screen blocker permission may be used to display blocking screens, floating timer information, or strict-mode interruptions over other apps. iOS does not provide the same general overlay permission; Focus Trainer uses Apple's Screen Time shields and notifications where available.

Notifications

Notifications may be used for active timer status, timer controls, timer completion alerts, reminders, alarms, or app behavior related to the selected difficulty mode.

Installed App Information

Android may read or display installed app information locally so users can choose apps for productivity rules. On iOS, users make selections through Apple's Family Activity picker; Focus Trainer does not independently scan the installed-app list.

5. How Focus Trainer Uses Information

Focus Trainer uses information to:

• Run focus and break timers
• Store timer progress and preserve active running timers
• Reset and roll over daily timer state
• Display session, block, day, week, and month analysis
• Track goals, achievements, XP, and level progress
• Unlock collectables based on level
• Apply difficulty settings, app usage rules, alarms, and screen blocker behavior
• Remember user preferences
• Measure optional analytics events if the user allows analytics collection
• Help diagnose support requests when users contact us

Platform Analytics

On iOS and Android, analytics collection is disabled by default. If the user selects "Allow analytics", Focus Trainer may send limited fixed-choice events to Firebase Analytics, such as onboarding choices, the selected "where did you hear about us" option, whether the user said they plan to take a test, do a job, or work on a project, and successful creation of test, job, project, or habit items. Some fixed-choice responses concern concentration, distraction, procrastination, intrusive thoughts, or mental well-being, so Focus Trainer treats those responses as health-related analytics data.

Focus Trainer does not send typed goal names, habit names, project names, job names, test names, timer labels, descriptions, notes, or other open-ended text to Firebase Analytics.

When analytics is allowed, Firebase may generate a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, derive approximate location from a masked Internet Protocol address, and process app lifecycle, product interaction, diagnostic, purchase, or subscription events. Focus Trainer does not include advertising-identifier support, does not enable advertising personalization, and does not use this information to track users across other companies' apps or websites.

6. Goals, Achievements, XP, And Collectables

Focus Trainer tracks goals, achievements, XP, levels, and collectables to provide progression features.

Goal and achievement data may include goal names, target durations, progress, completion status, reward claim status, and related timer activity.

XP from goals and achievements is added only when the user selects the completed item in the relevant app screen. Timer-based XP may be calculated from active focus activity according to the app's progression rules.

7. Native Sharing

Focus Trainer may allow users to share collectable images or related content.

When the user taps share, Focus Trainer hands the image or content to the device's native iOS or Android share sheet. The user then chooses the third-party app or service to receive the content.

Focus Trainer does not control how the selected third-party app processes shared content. Users should review the privacy policy of any third-party app they choose to share with.

8. Data Sharing And Disclosure

Focus Trainer does not sell personal information.

Focus Trainer does not operate a backend server that receives the user's timer, goal, XP, achievement, collectable, or app-usage data. If the user allows analytics, Firebase Analytics may receive the limited events and technical analytics data described above.

We may disclose information only in limited situations:

• When the user chooses to share content through the native share sheet
• When the user voluntarily contacts support
• If required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable government request
• To protect the rights, safety, or integrity of users, the app, or others

9. Third-Party Services

Focus Trainer may depend on standard platform services provided by Apple, Android, Google Play, device manufacturers, or the user's selected sharing apps.

These services may process information under their own privacy policies. For example:

• Apple may process App Store purchases, subscriptions, installation, crash, and review information under Apple's policies.
• Apple's Screen Time frameworks process authorized app selections, shields, and activity reports under Apple's platform privacy boundaries.
• Google Play may process app installation, crash, purchase, review, or device information according to Google's policies.
• Firebase Analytics may process optional iOS and Android analytics events if the user allows analytics collection.
• Android may handle permissions, notifications, usage access, overlay settings, and native sharing.
• Third-party apps selected from the share sheet process shared content according to their own policies.

Focus Trainer is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

10. Data Retention

Focus Trainer keeps local app data for as long as needed to provide app functionality or until the user deletes it.

Most local app content is removed when the user deletes the app or clears its storage. On iOS, Focus Trainer also stores limited free-use and trial eligibility state in the iOS Keychain so uninstalling and reinstalling the app does not reset the free-use allowance or restart the one-time seven-day Full Access trial. This state includes dates on which Focus was started, cumulative Focus and Break elapsed totals, technical timer progress checkpoints used to avoid double-counting, and the trial's earliest start and latest observed device time.

The iOS Keychain eligibility state may remain on the device after the app is uninstalled and may be read again after reinstallation. It is not transmitted to Focus Trainer, is not used for tracking, and cannot be accessed or deleted remotely because Focus Trainer has no user account or backend database.

If the user allows analytics, Firebase retains analytics data according to the retention settings configured for the Focus Trainer Firebase project and Google's policies. The user can disable analytics in the Focus Trainer side menu. Disabling it stops future collection and asks the Firebase SDK to reset the app's local analytics identifier and cached analytics data.

Other local data may remain on the device until:

• The user deletes app data through Android settings
• The user uninstalls the app
• The user resets or removes content inside the app
• The app's daily rollover and cleanup logic resets or updates timer state
• Future app features provide additional deletion or reset controls

11. Data Deletion And User Choices

Users can delete locally stored Focus Trainer data by uninstalling the app. Android users may also clear the app's storage through Android system settings.

On iOS, deleting or uninstalling the app does not necessarily delete the limited free-use and trial eligibility state stored in the iOS Keychain. iOS controls Keychain retention. Focus Trainer cannot remotely identify, access, or delete this on-device state.

Users can also manage permissions through iOS or Android settings, including:

• Screen Time access on iOS
• Usage Access on Android
• Overlay or screen blocker permission on Android
• Notifications

Users can enable or disable optional Firebase Analytics from the Focus Trainer side menu. Analytics remains disabled unless the user actively allows it.

Because Focus Trainer does not maintain a backend account system, deleting local app data on the device is generally the primary way to delete app data.

12. Security

Focus Trainer uses local device storage and iOS or Android platform permission controls to protect app data.

No method of storage or processing is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their devices with a passcode, biometric lock, or other device-level security features.

13. Children's Privacy

Focus Trainer is not intended for children under 13 years old, or the equivalent minimum age required by local law.

14. International Users And Regional Rights

Focus Trainer is designed to store productivity data locally on the user's device.

Depending on where a user lives, they may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal information.

Because Focus Trainer generally stores app data locally and does not maintain user accounts or a backend database, many privacy choices can be exercised directly on the device by deleting app data, uninstalling the app, or changing permissions. The limited free-use and trial eligibility state described above may remain in the iOS Keychain after uninstall.

15. Changes To This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Focus Trainer changes, new features are added, legal requirements change, or app store requirements change.

When we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of the policy. If the changes are significant, we may also provide additional notice in the app or through another appropriate method.
